According to the 2010 government census, 84.7% of this segment of the disabled population is either unemployed or underemployed. Without income, many people with disabilities are forced to seek financial assistance from the state (SSI) or federal government (SSDI). Unable to subsidize their income with typical employment opportunities, they are left to live below the federal poverty level.
Access For Opportunity has addressed this imbalance by allocating approximately 1/3 of the building’s communal areas to the professional growth of its residents. This area will be partitioned off into office space. This workspace is available free of charge. For those who have ideas but need support, training and job coaching will also be available at no additional charge.
Our goal is to go ABOVE & BEYOND to give people the opportunity to embrace their potential and find or create meaningful work to improve their lives. Financial success will lead to self-confidence and an improved outlook on life.
